Press Release
For Immediate Release
September 25, 2005
Michael Wolf Selected to Present at “Frontiers
of Wolf Recovery.”
Moscow, Idaho: Michael Wolf, a University
of Idaho student and founder of Wolf Ranch
Foundation, has been selected as a presenter
at the premier event for wolf recovery, “Frontiers
of Wolf Recovery” held in Colorado Springs
October 1st through 4th 2005.
Michael submitted the abstract titled “Addressing
Shortfalls of Wolf Recovery: Recommendations
for Cooperative Education Initiatives and
Criteria for Their Success” in early 2005.
It was accepted by International Wolf Center,
hosts of the conference, over the summer.
The abstract was from a paper written by
Michael for a technical writing course he
took at UI last fall (2004).
This represents an incredible opportunity
both for Michael in his educational pursuits
towards a PhD, as well as for Wolf Ranch
Foundation, which is still in initial startup
phase.
Michael founded Wolf Ranch Foundation, originally
as an educational website, in 1999, in order
to contribute to wolf recovery efforts. What
started as an educational website has turned
into a plan to start a research facility
working with livestock-predator interaction
and related research that will be based in
central Idaho. Currently, Michael is working
towards his educational goals which will
allow him the experience and expertise to
direct the research facility. Wolf Ranch
Foundation is the organization that will
fund the research facility and education
efforts. Formal organization is currently
underway, with UI Legal Aid Clinic tentatively
offering assistance in that regard.
Michael is disabled, and no longer has the
ability to fund Wolf Ranch Foundation activities
on his own. As such, he is seeking to raise
the approximately $1000 for the conference
through various avenues. Michael, and some
volunteers, will be selling wolf photographs
taken by Michael between 1998 and 2002 in
front of the Commons in the afternoons starting
Monday, September 26th.
The presentation and related material are
on Wolf Ranch's Website uner "Foundation
News."
