Here you will find news about wolves and wolf issues.
May 2nd, 2009.
Wolf Ranch Foundation is giving serious consideration
to suing the Fish and Wildlife Service and
Ken Salazar over delisting of wolves. No
other agency or entity has used the arguments
we believe strongly support keeping wolves
delisted. Those arguments can be read on
the Wolf Ranch Foundation blog if you are interested in reading them. But
to summarize, the Northern Rocky Mountain
Wolf Recovery Plan and other recovery plans
fail to address the very reasons stated by
the Fish and Wildlife Service for the decline
of wolves in the first place - reasons which
can only be addressed by scientifically created
and monitored educational efforts. The simple
fact is that wolves are in as much jeopardy
now as they were before recovery began because
people still misunderstand and are otherwise
ignorant of wolves, their habitat and ecology,
and their necessity in their former ranges.
Wolf Ranch Foundation needs your help. If
you agree with these arguments, and that
wolves should not be delisted because of
the arguments we present in our blog, we
ask for your help. We need an attorney to
represent us though we plan to proceed "Pro
Se" (without legal counsel - representing
ourselves.) We also need money to fund the
effort, both for filing fees, but also for
travel funds. Our director is disabled and
without income of any kind and donations
have not been coming in because we haven't
even been able to complete our application
for non-profit tax-exempt status because
of the situation with our director.
Please email us using our blog email form
here if you would like to help.
Thank you on behalf of the wolves.

Wolf Ranch Foundation has officially commented
on Idaho Fish and Game's proposal to remove
75% of wolves in a section of Northern Idaho.
The comments can be found here.
March 3rd, 2006.
Idaho Fish and Game has decided to delay
the proposal to kill wolves in Northern Idaho.
Good news indeed, given the lack of credibility
in the proposal.
March 22nd, 2006.
US Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to delist wolves for the Western
Great Lakes Distinct Population Segment. Wolf Ranch Foundation has commented on this proposal. We feel that the proposal contains a fatal
flaw: that the Fish and Wildlife Service
has not done enough to ensure the future
of wolves, as required by the ESA, because
habitat loss has not been addressed. We feel
that down the road, we will be facing the
same problem, because habitat will become
developed.
Please feel free to add your own comments
on FWS's proposal to delist in the Great
Lakes DPS.
Thank you!
